Gestern Nacht konnten wir hierzulande The Game Awards 2020 verfolgen. Neben einigen Neuankündigungen und Updates wurden hier natürlich auch wieder die Spiele des Jahres in diversen Kategorien ausgezeichnet. Wurden die Titel ausgezeichnet, die ihr euch erhofft habt?

Für mich waren hier jetzt keine besonders großen Überraschungen dabei, ich fand es etwas schade, dass die meisten Awards dann doch recht einseitig an The Last of Us Part II gingen. Keine Kritik am Spiel - ich habe mich mit der Reihe aus mangelndem Interesse nach Trailern etc. nie befasst -, aber ich finde es prinzipiell immer schöner, wenn es etwas ausbalancierter ist. Spricht natürlich für das Spiel, aber ich fand die Konkurrenz dieses Jahr eigentlich auch nicht schlecht.
Ich habe mich gefreut, dass Ghost of Tsushima - als Gewinner der Kategorie "Player's Voice" - zumindest einen offiziellen Award abgeräumt hat und gratuliere den Entwicklern von Hades für diesen Durchbruch mit einem Indie-Titel. Ansonsten habe ich mich gefreut, dass Animal Crossing die "Family"-Kategorie abgeräumt hat. Dass Game of the Year in diesem Jahr keine Option ist, war völlig klar, aber ich hätte es irgendwie bizarr gefunden, wenn der absolute Bestseller 2020, der jetzt schon Titel wie Breath of the Wild hinter sich gelassen hat, gar nichts bekommen hätte.
